Scientific Purpose<\/strong>\n
\nThe workshop will explore mathematical and computational approaches for deriving effective macroscopic descriptions of complex materials and mechanical systems from their underlying heterogeneous or microscopic structure. Topics will include homogenization techniques, including effective descriptions of inelastic and dissipative phenomena, generalized continua, wave phenomena, and mechanics of metamaterials. The workshop aims to foster discussion across applied mathematics, mechanics, and materials science, highlighting recent theoretical developments as well as computational strategies. The event will provide an opportunity to exchange ideas, discuss open problems, and identify new directions for the development of multiscale theories of complex materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
