The CNRS International Associate Laboratory Coss&Vita (associating the Paris Federation of Mechanics Labs<\/a> and the International Research Center M&MoCS<\/a>) and the French federation Ing\u00e9nierie M\u00e9canobiologie Ost\u00e9o-Articulaire (IMOA) jointly organize a three-day workshop on \u201cBone biomechanics: multiscale and multiphysical aspects\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n The workshop will take place in the charming historic village of Giuliano di Roma (Italy), from Tuesday, September 26 to Thursday, September 28, 2017.<\/p>\n Sitting at the crossroads and gaining input from mechanics, mathematics, biology, and medicine, biomechanics aims at providing a thorough understanding of the functioning of living systems through an interdisciplinary effort where all these scientific communities usefully complement one another\u2019s expertise.<\/p>\n Bone represents a typical example where this interaction has been especially fruitful. However, despite the long-lasting interdisciplinary research devoted to this topic worldwide, bone functioning still represents a challenging problem and several questions still require to be answered.<\/p>\n This workshop is intended to be a privileged moment of scientific exchange gathering an international scientific community working on the various aspects of the osteoarticular system. Biomechanics community will meet biologists and clinicians in an informal setting to discuss about their respective objectives, approaches, and issues.<\/p>\n All the topics related to the biomechanics of the osteoarticular system are relevant to this workshop, aiming at providing a comprehensive overview of the multiscale and multiphysical nature of bone functioning.<\/p>\n Dates and location<\/strong> Registration<\/strong> Venue and accommodation<\/strong> Giuliano di Roma is located about 80 kilometers southeast of Rome, close to the city of Frosinone. A shuttle service will be available from and to the Rome airport on 9\/26 early afternoon and 9\/28 afternoon, respectively (*).<\/p>\n Alternatively, Giuliano di Roma can be reached by car, train or bus.
