Multidisciplinary Workshop on Orthodontic Tooth Movement

22–26 February 2027 –  Arpino, Italy

We are organizing a research meeting on orthodontic bone remodeling and Multiphysics for specialists, with the aim of strengthening the collaboration between mechanicians, biologists, and medical doctors. Our group has already enjoyed a fruitful collaboration in this area, which has led to several joint publications

(10.1002/ZAMM.201100082; 10.1007/s10237-016-0765-6; 10.1007/s10237-019-01166-w; 10.1007/s10237-023-01755-w; 10.1007/s00161-024-01336-x ; 10.2140/memocs.2023.11.525; 10.1016/j.jocit.2018.09.006; 10.3233/BME-171638; 10.1016/j.jocit.2018.09.011; 10.1016/j.mechrescom.2026.104641; 10.1016/j.mechrescom.2026.104630; 10.1016/j.mechrescom.2026.104718; 10.2140/memocs.2026.14.513; 10.1177/10812865251369422).

We aim to continue developing these works with experts in the fields to help medical doctors in their everyday practice. We are very pleased to invite you to join our next meeting, to be held in Arpino, Italy, from 22nd to 26th February 2027. We are especially glad that Prof. Anna Maria Teti will be joining us to share her expertise on bone metabolism.
The goal of the meeting is to establish a continuous exchange and a stable, long-term collaboration among researchers from different disciplines working on this topic.

Please find on the page Program a draft schedule, which will be finalized depending on the colleagues who confirm their participation. If you are interested in taking part, we would be grateful if you could indicate your preferred slot in the scheme or suggest changes to better adapt the program to your expertise.
The draft on the page Program is purely indicative, and we welcome your input to shape it further.

We very much hope you will be able to join us, and we look forward to hearing from you.
The Organizers
Francesco dell’Isola, Daniel George, Michele Tepedino

Themes

1. The metabolic mechanisms of the bone/PDL interaction and bone remodeling: mathematical modeling challenges for multiscale and multiphysics approaches;

2. Determination of the 3D applied forces and moments by orthodontic devices. Experimental control, medical practice and theory;

3. Gathering knowledge for developing theoretical and numerical models. Understanding what the PDL is from a biological, medical, and mechanical viewpoint
