The

International Research Centre for the Mathematics & Mechanics of Complex Systems (M&MoCS)

the

Italian Association of  Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (AIMETA)

together with the town of Sperlonga,

and the

Fondazione Tullio Levi-Civita (Fondazione TLC)

organize the

Third Sperlonga Summer School on Mechanics and Engineering Sciences

on

Dynamics, Stability and Control of Flexible Structures

Sperlonga (Italy), 23-27 September 2013

coordinated by Francesco  dell’Isola (Sapienza Università di Roma, Italy) and

Angelo Luongo (Università degli Studi dell’Aquila, Italy), as part of the activities under the homonymous PRIN Project.

The School will take place inside the fascinating monument of Santa Maria, the most ancient church of  Sperlonga (early 12th century).

The following mini-courses and seminars will be held:

C. Lamarque:Nonlinear Dynamics of Smooth and Non-Smooth Systems with Application to Passive Controls

A. Luongo: Perturbation methods for Bifurcation Analysis

F. dell’Isola: Modelling the onset of shear boundary layers in fibrous composite reinforcements by second gradient theory

D. Steigmann: Fundamentals of Elastic Stability, including Application to Structures

B.F. Spencer:Current Practice and Future Trends in Structural Control
Health Monitoring of Civil Infrastructures

S. Lenci: Dynamical integrity in Structural and Nonlinear Dynamics

V. Gattulli: Advanced applications in the field of Structural Control and Health Monitoring after the 2009 L’Aquila Earthquake
